Since spending time in Bible reading and prayer is so wonderful, why oh why is it SO hard?! I suppose we can identify with Paul when he said “the things I want to do, I don’t do, and the things I hate, those things I do. Oh, wretched man that I am!” I agree with him that through Christ we can have the victory. Thanks for commenting.

Great to see you Warren:) I agree, the more we seek Him the more we see. And our desire grows to want to spend time with God.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you! 🙂

It is amazing that the more and more we read the Bible, the more God allows us to “see”, and the greater interest it generates. I find the same thing as you about daily reading – if I don’t do it right away, I tend to put it off and not get to it.

Good post. wb

One friend said to me, “You know, I skipped my devotions today. I don’t know having them would have changed anything about my circumstances, but I suspect I would have responded differently to them.” Wise woman! Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful advice, Ashley! I have my phone by my bed so I can read my Bible on it. But I have to admit, having my email and internet on it does sometimes distract me from reading the Bible. I’ll have to use your advice and put my Bible next to my bed. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. God bless:)

It’s amazing how trained we become in doing everything else first besides putting God as number one. Before, I tried getting ready for my day and then having time afterward to spend time with God. However, I noticed sometimes it didn’t always work out that way. Now, I try to keep my Bible (or some type of devotional) near my bedside. This way, when I wake up I am immediately reminded to spend time with God and I don’t become distracted while getting my Bible in some other part of the room. It has helped me a lot. Another thing I’ve tried this year and need to do, is fast from whatever we put first over God. It helps a lot. Thank you for writing this. Blessings.

Hi Buffy! It’s great to meet you! Thanks for that wonderful comment. There are so many distractions today. But when we purposely let everything go for a moment and draw ourselves close to the Lord, we are renewed and refreshed to handle whatever else may come that day. We need His filling each day. This is something I continually need to be reminded of.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your heart. God bless you:)

You are so right about unprecedented distractions in today’s demanding world. But God does tell us that He is a jealous God, and rightfuly so. We often forget the horrendous sacrifice Jesus made for us. We who are so undeserving! But yet, He always loves us, more than we can ever comprehend. The least we can do is draw closer to Him by studying His Word! He created us and deires to communicate with us. That’s truly incredible!
Earlier today, my writing, and gathering/posting expense/income items for IRS kept me from getting absorbed in His enlightening scripture. But, as it instructs us, we need to stay close to Him so we are always armed for the devil’s warfare and equipped to display a Godly example in our day-to-day living.
Even though I talk to God throughout my day, I’m setting a goal to hear His voice more clearly every day through His Word and my quiet time with Him. Lord, help us all, I pray! We need You!

I wish I’d been in on the comments from the beginning of the day — I’ve been traveling all day between two daughters in two different states for my birthday, and am just now checking in with y’all. I’ve been thinking of the scriptural reminder to “seek first the kingdom of God.” The Lord reminded me that “to seek” involves diligence, persistence, energy, and commitment. He didn’t just tell us to “glance at the kingdom,” He told us to “seek” it. That means it’s going to require effort. But oh, what a reward — “and all these things will be added to you!” May we all put Him first in our day! Thanks for commenting — y’all are amazing!
