I have not read his book, but I will check it out. It sounds really good. Thanks for the suggestion. I agree with you on how we are often viewed by others. 1 Peter 3:15 shows us how to reach others, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Humility with God and toward others is how we reach the world for Christ. Thanks for your comment. 🙂
Blessings,
Amanda
Have you read unchristian, by David Kinnaman? It is about what the unchurched think about the churched. They often think of them as “unchristian.” One of the reasons for their thinking is that Christians are not perfect, but they often project themselves with undo confidence in the goodness of their lifestyle. That repulses the unchurched, esp. those in the 16 to 29 age category. They don’t mind the weaknesses in Christians if it was accompanied by some confession and humility.
As I was reading your post, and was drawn to verses 9-18, I also thought of Kinnaman’s book, and how a regular dose of Romans 3 might humble us and make us, and the body of Christ, more appealing to the unchurched. Good post.
